Cercospora leaf spot (Cercospora boehmeria)
This is a very common disease and can cause considerable loss in fibre yield of ramie.
Symptoms:
- Infected leaves develop circular to angular brown spots with narrow red or dark-reddish-brown margins.
- On heavily infested plant, defoliation may occur.
- During heavy infection, the spots may appear uniformly over the foliage, coalesce and damage large areas of leaf tissue.
Size:
size from pinpoints up to 5 cm in diameter with concentric rings.
Climate:
Warm temperature, frequent rain and high humidity are the most important factors for the development of this disease.
Temperature: 20 -280 C Relative Humidity:90-100% .
Causes:
Diseased-seeds and planting materials also play an important role in spread of the disease.
