Mosaic of ramie (Viral disease)
Symptoms:
- Mosaic-like symptoms are characterized by intermingled patches of normal and light green or yellowish colour on the leaves of infected plants and yellowing of the entire network of veins in the leaf blade.
- In severe infections the younger leaves turn yellow, become reduced in size and the plants become stunted.
- The plants are susceptible to the disease at any stage.
- The virus never kills the plants but affects the growth of the crop as well as fibre quality, particularly when the plants are infected at younger stage.
Occurrance:
Maximum occurrence of the disease is noticed during October to March.
